The qualifying round of the All Ireland Linguistics Olympiad 2017 will take place in schools around Ireland on 1st February 2017. The top 100 performers in the qualifying round will progress to the national final on 24th March 2017 at Dublin Institute of Technology.
The All Ireland Linguistics Olympiad is an all-island contest that challenges secondary school students to use logic and lateral thinking to decode complex problems in international languages. No previous knowledge of languages or linguistics is required. Instead the main requirements are a logical mind, patience and a willingness to think around corners. The contest is a key element of the Problem-Solving Initiative and is run by the ADAPT Centre with the support of Science Foundation Ireland.
Schools and individuals can sign up for the All Ireland Linguistics Olympiad 2017 until 20th January 2017 at www.adaptcentre.ie/ailo
