On Friday, 24th March 2017 the ADAPT Centre will host the national final of the All Ireland Linguistics Olympiad 2017 at DIT Grangegorman, Dublin. From a starting lineup of 4,000 secondary school students, the top 100 linguistic problem solvers will test their minds at the national final. The students, who are from 43 schools in 16 counties, will compete in individual and team contests. The All Ireland Linguistics Olympiad challenges students to use logic and problem-solving skills to solve complex problems in unfamiliar languages. The top eight performers will be selected to represented Ireland at the International Linguistics Olympiad 2017, which ADAPT will host from 31st July to 4th August 2017 at Dublin City University. The contest is a key element of the Problem-Solving Initiative, a nationwide initiative that aims to foster the next generation of problem solvers for Ireland.
