As part of the Science Foundation Ireland funded nationwide Problem-Solving Initiative, the ADAPT Centre hosted a Problem-Solving Festival on Saturday, 30th September 2017 in Trinity College Dublin (TCD). The festival was sponsored by Microsoft. The festival took place in the Examination Hall in TCD, a prominent location just inside the front gates off College Green.

The family festival had activities for all ages, including language games, logic puzzles, large-scale games, interactive workshops and curated lectures. 

Featured at the festival were:

Propeller car challenge – work as a team to build a propeller powered car using electronic components and recycled goods

 Linguistics Olympiad Problem Solving Workshop: Test your mind against the world’s toughest puzzles in language, logic and linguistics.

Manual Override: This interactive logic game challenges players to coordinate with teammates in a race against the clock to reduce interference in a complex mobile phone network.

Sensory Challenge: Can you tell the difference between different smells? Do you know how a sensor works? Challenge your sense of smell in this fun activity which will illustrate how materials science research is helping develop sensors to find new ways of sensing the world within and around us.
